Third Grade; East Jackson Elementary 764-1810
Welcome to Room 115
First, let me introduce myself. This is my 26th year with East Jackson. My first 13 years were at Robinson Elementary teaching 5th grade, then four years in 3rd, followed by three years instructing 7th grade science, and now into my sixth in 3rd. I teach science to all third graders, and to my own class Spelling, Writing, and Reading.
Science and nature have been a love my entire life. It was what led to my obtaining a Wildlife Biology Degree from Michigan State University. At the age of 17 a local wildlife film producer, Berlet Films, invited me to join them in making nature films. For 28 years I helped produce over 100 shows for television and educational films. Filming wildlife allowed me to see 48 states and all ten provinces of Canada. This career also gave me the opportunity for 16 years to do lecture tours, mainly for the National Audubon Society, presenting hundreds of programs including school assemblies. My experience doing school programs gave me the desire to obtain a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and employment with East Jackson Schools.
